The Darkness Within, Chapter 48Chapter XLVIII
The night turned into morning and a new and wonderful day of fun was in store for the Reed Father and son. Tom woke up in a good mood, the time was around 10:30am, he figured he would let Jackson sleep in a bit to rest up for day planned out by his loving Father. He was in such a good mood that Tom started to cook up breakfast for the family. The smell of bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, toast, and his favorite or hash browns filled the house. The mouth watering mix of smells drifted through the house and snuck under every door filling the rooms with the smell of food. Sniffing the air, Jackson opened his eyes a bit and sat up yawning, the smell caused the boy’s stomach to react.
“That smells so good.” he said softly before climbing down out of bed to see if the smell was real. Arriving to the kitchen he saw Tom and Isaac talking, peeking around the corner he saw the meal being made, so mouth watering it was that he licked his lips. Such good mea

Two months had passed and it was almost time for the baby to be born. Only two more months left. Tanya’s belly was really swollen from the baby. Tom was becoming more and more like his old self which made Tanya very happy, Jackson could see his Father for who he really was. In the two months that had passed there were no attacks from the Demon or any strange happenings. It both unsettled Tanya and Tom but also pleased them that nothing had happened so far. They knew to not let their guard down, for all they knew the Demon could come back and torment them once again, but things were calm and Jackson continued to play and be himself. The only thing he wanted to do was play baseball with his father, practice throwing the ball, attend some games or go see some ODSTs. Peeking through a hole in the fence, the little warrior went into the next yard to have some fun, maybe Rook would play with him.
Rook was always happy to see the little boy. At the moment that Jacks

Five months later. Jackson smiled rubbing Tanya's growing belly as he tried to listen to the baby inside.
"Is it a boy?" he asked as she pet his head.
"We'll see once the babe is born, it's good to have it as a surprise." she said kissing his head before looking at Tom bringing her tea. "Thank you Tom."
"My pleasure. Anything for you." Tom smiled as he leaned down and kissed Tanya's cheek. His smiled grew wider as he looked down at her swollen belly with their second child.
"Dad, what do you think it'll be? I'm thinking a boy." Jackson said rubbing Tanya's belly again before listening to it while Isaac watched on, keeping track of everything.
"You're too curious for your own good." Tanya teased Jackson.
"Well, I hope it's a beautiful girl just like your Mother." Tom smiled warmly as he put his hand on Tanya's belly.
"A girl! We'll have to get a lot of things for her! We could use my stuff if it's a boy." Jackson told.
"If it's a girl, she'll be a rough and tough gir

Morning dawned into the campsite as the sun rose from the lakeside, behind the mountain. The mist that formed later in the night faded away but left everything in a thin wet coat of water. Rook who had been sleeping outside was covered in tiny water droplets as his body laid awkwardly on the log. Isaac's plinth that was left outside was drenched with the tiny water drops as well, lucky for the AI the plinth was waterproof making him safe.
Jackson was the first one to wake up and headed out of the tent yawning and was soon rubbing his arms at how cool the morning was here in the forest. Shivering he collected the plinth and returned to the tent in quick strides to talk to Isaac like he usually did in the morning. Seeing the wetness on the plinth, he wiped them off and shook it off a few times as well. "Isaac?"
"Yes dear Jack? I am here." Isaac's voice said before his avatar flickered and appeared on the plinth. The AI smiled at Jackson and seemed happy to see him.
